workin girl

{skinnies: belk, button-up: costco (old), scarf: walmart ($5), shoes: nordstrom (old), ring: sundance, bracelets: alex and ani, garage sales, tallulahs}

Well, I survived my first week of work!  And let me tell you, after nearly three years of working from home, it was a serious adventure.  Once a month I will be spending a week working for a vendor at a wholesale marketplace here in Atlanta.  It's insane.  Retail on steroids.  I've done retail.  This is so much more intense and so much more fun!  The days are long but fly by thanks to the amazing women I work with and the scores of new people that flow in and out of the showroom.

Since I haven't worked in such a long time, there was a serious need for new clothing.  My usual routine of leggings with a baggy Michigan sweatshirt (go blue!) just wasn't going to cut it.  I needed a couple pair of trousers to get me through the week and the upcoming months.  Sure,  I have a few skirts, but in retail-esque situations, skirts can get in the way as you move around a lot.  My next issue was that I just don't like traditional work place trousers.  Never have, never will.  I feel frumpy and less dressed than in a pair of jeans.  It's a total mental thing.  During my hasty search of one afternoon, I scored at Belk with these velvety skinnies.  The lush texture and color were a winner from the start, add a higher waistband and a $16 price tag and I was sold.  They are so comfortable and may just become my new leggings...maybe...

  1. I'm jealous! I'm so glad you love the job. I'm so glad Memselle got to meet you and know how perfect you were for the position.
    Can't wait to hear more.

  2. Congrats on the new job! And I love the color palette with the scarf and pants - muted but interesting. :)
